Cleaning brick walls is not always a uncomplicated task. Certain bricks such as rustic faced ones may start to crumble if you try and brush them with a strong bristled brush. Older walls will have weak pointing in the joints which might also break away if you scrub too hard. Pressure washers which blast out high powered water can also be harmful.

It is a good idea to visit your local home revising center or orchad center. They will have discrete brick cleaning products available. Choose the one which best matches your wall type and try it on a small area. If you have a pressure washer you can try using this before and after using a brick cleaning goods but try not to apply too much pressure. Use a pressure washer more as a rinser than a stain remover.

Once your wall is clean, reconsider applying a brick sealer. There are separate brands available and again the best idea is to always test on a small area first. These sealants will also prolong the life of your wall, protecting it from the elements.
